The Hotel Quinta do Furao sits in a unique location on the northeast coast of Madeira. This former wine producing Quinta is surrounded by five tranquil hectares filled with organic vines, fruit trees, and an extensive vegetable and herb garden.
The hotel has forty-three comfortable en-suite rooms with free Wi-Fi, and tea and coffee making facilities. There’s also has a heated indoor swimming pool, sauna, gym, and a restaurant which serves an excellent mix of traditional Madeiran and modern European cuisine, using produce from the Quinta’s own gardens. The hotel also has an excellent wine cellar where you can taste (and buy) the traditional wines from across Madeira and Porto Santo.
Quinta do Furao is on the outskirts of Santana - the largest town in north-east Madeira. It’s a good base if you’re a keen hiker, with easy access to the start of Pico Ruivo (Madeira's highest peak), and the dramatic seacliffs at Ponta de Sao Lourenco are just along the east coast.
Whether you prefer to explore on foot or by car, the north-east of Madeira is home to some of the island's most magnificent scenery.
