Horse Riding

The Equine Village at Quinta do Riacho is a charming equestrian retreat in the picturesque rolling landscape of southeast Madeira. This family-owned stable was established in 2009 by couple Paula and Paulo, and their unwavering commitment to animal welfare and unshakable passion for horses is second to none.

Horse RidingPaula’s tailored riding adventures cater for riders of all ages and abilities, guaranteeing a safe and enjoyable experience for all. The 4km Cedar’s Trail normally last around an hour and is great for beginners and little ones. The intermediate 6km Levada da Serra Trail is a little longer, following the Serra do Faial water channel, whilst experienced riders will love the 11km Laurel Forest Trail which explores one of Madeira’s UNESCO-protected laurisilva forests.

Quinta do Riacho’s stables house a diverse range of beloved horses, each meticulously chosen for their temperament, resilience, and adaptability. Paula and her team have created a nurturing environment where her horses receive the highest standards of care, respect, and affection.

Paula’s fellow guides Theresa and Beatriz are also deeply knowledgeable about Madeira’s long history, the island’s culture and natural beauty, and a tour is also an education in the island’s unique geology, flora and fauna.
