Overview

The lovely Casa da Piedade was built in the 18th century and much of the original architecture was preserved during it’s restoration in 1994.

Situated in the Sao Vicente ribeira valley (and in the village of the same name), the house is a fine example of rural tourism, in the tranquil and peaceful surroundings of North-west Madeira. The décor of the comfortable en-suite rooms is sympathetic to the 18th Century origins of the Casa, with a cosy traditional-Portuguese style, and the pretty gardens are a peaceful spot to enjoy the magnificent mountain views. The Casa offers B&B stays but not dinner in the evenings; guests have access to the house kitchen and outdoor barbecue if you’d like to prepare and cook your own meals, and there’s a nice selection of seafront restaurants down on the rugged north coast (just a five-minute drive/taxi ride away).

Due to its secluded location, we’ll normally recommend including a hire car during your stay; allowing you the freedom to explore the magnificent landscapes of North-west Madeira.
