Overview

Spend seven glorious nights at the Se Boutique Hotel.

The Se Boutique Hotel is Funchal’s most-central and arguably most-charming boutique hotel. It’s a much-used cliché, but the Se truly is in the very heart of the Madeiran capital. Taking its name from one of island’s oldest buildings, the 16th century gothic Se Cathedral de Nossa Senhora da Assuncao, you’ll find all of Funchal’s must-see locations are just a short walk away.

The famous Carro de Cesto taboggans, Monte Palace cable car, the Mercados dos Lavradores and the restaurants of the old town Zona Velha district are close at hand. You’ll also have two excellent restaurants on your ground floor: the O Calhau with its mix of Madeiran and Med-inspired dishes, and the Cossi Scoozi has one of the best Italian menus in the city.

You’ll spend time at sea on a whale and dolphin watching trip from the Marina do Funchal, with time outside of the city in the capable hands of our resident guide – exploring Madeira’s magnificent central mountains, sea cliffs and wild swimming spots.

Itinerary

You’ll begin your holiday by flying direct from the UK to Madeira. You’ll be collected on arrival in Funchal by our driver for your transfer to the Se Boutique hotel.
You’ll spend your first full day on the island exploring historic Funchal - the Sé Catedral de Nossa Senhora da Assunção, the Igreja de São João Evangelista, the Museu Photographia Vicentes, and the Zona Velha Old Town district.
Our resident guide will take you on a private tour of Madeira’s wild north coast - with visits to the Casacata Veu da Noiva waterfall, the Paul de Serra plateau, the natural swimming pools at Porto Moniz and the Volcanism Centre in Sao Vicente.
You’ll explore Funchal’s Monte Palace gardens and the beautiful Jardim Botanico at Quinta do Bom Sucesso, with a chance to ride the famous Carro de Cesto wicker toboggans.
Today’s free - you could personalise your holiday by adding a guided tour to one of Madeira’s most magnificent locations: the secluded Curral das Freiras Nun’s Valley mountain hideaway.
You’ll head to sea on a whale and dolphin watching trip. The waters around Madeira are one of the best places to observe Atlantic-spotted dolphins, sperm whales and loggerhead turtles.
For your final full day on the island, it’s easy to add a tour of eastern Madeira, with visits to the high summit of Pico do Arieiro, the forest park at Ribeiro Frio, the rum distillery at Porto da Cruz and the Ponta de Sao Lourenco peninsula.
You'll be transferred to the airport for your flight home.
