Overview

Surround yourself with island culture in a traditional one bedroom Madeira villa at Casa das Vinha.

The casa is part of the Quinta Vista Alegre estate – peaceful oasis of vineyards and banana groves hidden right in the heart of the capital Funchal. It’s open-plan living/dining room is spacious and modern whilst retaining the character of the original building, with a small but well-equipped kitchenette and a double en-suite. There’s also a large shared swimming pool, patio and garden – perfect for relaxing with a glass of Madeiran wine in the warm evenings.

Funchal’s historic buildings are a short walk away, and it’s easy to personalise your holiday by adding a few of our favourite activities. Airport transfers are included and we’ll arrange for a hire car to be delivered to your door so you can explore the whole island at your leisure.

Direct flights are also included in our Madeira villa holidays. We remove the stress from booking flights by finding you the best deal from your closest airport. We include all the luggage you’ll need so there are no nasty surprises or extras to pay at the airport, and we’ll select the best available seats for you in advance.

Itinerary

You'll begin your holiday by flying direct from the UK to Madeira. Our driver will collect you from your flight, for your transfer into Funchal.
We’ll deliver a hire car to your quinta so you can begin exploring Funchal - the Avenida do Mar, the Se Cathedral, the Baltazar Dias Theatre and Blandy's Wine Lodge. It’s a short drive to the tropical gardens at Monte Palace, were you can ride a Carro de Cesto – the famous wicker toboggans which run down the steep streets of Caminho do Monte.
Drive to one of the highest points on the island – the summit of Pico do Arieiro (at 1816m) for an amazing panoramic view across the whole island. You could spend the afternoon in the forest park at Ribeiro Frio; home to the miradouro at Balcões – a wonderful spot overlooking the Ribeira da Metade valley.
Explore the coves and bays of Madeira’s south coast - visit the famous skywalk at Cabo Girao, one of Europe’s highest sea cliffs, and the secluded Curral das Freiras – the Nun’s Valley.
Take a drive over the island’s central mountains to the magnificent sea cliffs that dominate the landscape on the north coast of Madeira. The coast road leads to Porto Moniz,; one of the best swimming spots on the island.

End your week with a walk along the barren Ponta Sao Lourenco peninsula, with a visit to Machico - the spot where Joao Goncalves Zarco and Trisao Vaz Texiera first landed when they discovered the island on 1st July 1419.
