Experience Madeira’s magnificent sunsets on a south coast sailing trip.
Trips set sail from the marina in Calheta, on-board the yacht ‘Spica’ with our skipper Joao Gabriel Farinha. Joao’s been sailing the waters around Madeira since he was a small boy and you couldn’t be in better hands. The Spica herself is a Bruce Roberts 43: built in 1986, she’s twenty-two tonnes with two masts and a very safe and stable boat to sail. Comfortable too: with two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a well-equipped galley. Sunset trips give you a unique perspective on the island, looking inland from the ocean as you explore the fajas of the south coast: Faja da Lapa, Faja dos Padres and Faja das Bebras. Weighing anchor at Cabo Girao, Joao will cook a light dinner on the BBQ whilst you snorkel in the clear warm waters of the Atlantic. Heading home Calheta, you can lie-back and relax as the sunset lights up the westward skies in fiery crimsons and golds.
If you’re a keen sailor looking few days at sea, you might prefer a tailor-made sailing trip to one of Madeira’s smaller neighbours: a three night trip to the island of Porto Santo (home to Madeira’s best beaches) or the Ilhas Desertas (a marine nature reserve, home to Madeira’s protected colony of Monk Seals). Anything’s possible with our personalised trips – just call us for a chat and we’ll do the rest.
